Bed and breakfast in the Dordogne. Dordogne B and B,Chambres d'hotes. Farmhouse B and B in the Dordogne. Converted farmhouse in Aquitaine. Friendly B and B SW France in National park. B and B in family home in Dordogne.
Les Vignes is a superb converted farmhouse, with pool, in the village centre of Abjat Sur Bandiat, in the Dordogne, Aquitaine, just 10 kms from Nontron. A fabulous and friendly bed and breakfast/ chambres d’hotes, in the heart of the National Park. Our price includes a full cooked breakfast as well as traditional French petit dejeuner! Our village has two bars/restaurants, local shops and PO. Close by, Nontron and Piegut Pluviers offer supermarkets and all general amenities. Villages and hamlets around us offer plenty of varied bars and restaurants for evening dining, at decent prices. The Wednesday morning market at Piegut boasts to be one of the largest and most vibrant in the region, though you can pretty much find one most days of the week, selling regional delicacies, such as foie gras, truffles, snails and wine along with all the usual market fare. The fruit and vegetables need to be tasted to be believed! The village offers marked walking trails with diverse wildlife, bike hire, tennis courts and fishing, and nearby 3 recreational lakes with beaches and water sports. The house has been lovingly restored, leaving many original features in place. Wooden floors, oak beams and stone walls (along with effective central heating), make for warm comfortable rooms in winter, and cool welcoming ones during the year’s warmer months. It comprises 5 bedrooms, a comfy lounge and dining room, spacious kitchen (both with wood burning Godin stoves), 3 bathrooms and a separate wc. Our sunny terrace and pool are furnished with a BBQ for guests use on demand, and pool alarm, for safe swimming, and lounging! TV, video, DVD, and Satellite, can be used by our guests, as well as books and games.
Our bed and breakfast is only 45 minutes from the cities of Limoges, Perigueux and Angouleme, all with something different to offer, including the usual tourist attractions, caves, chateaux, churches, aquariums, war memorials, museums etc., and are all places of interest, with lively bars, restaurants, cafes for drinking and eating or just people watching, and letting the world pass by! The town of Brantome, known as 'The Venice of the Perigord Vert', offers all the above, plus canoeing in the most picturesque setting, perhaps with a picnic to follow! In our region there are plenty of fun days out to have, velo-railing (a weird combination of biking on train tracks), quad biking, Karting, more canoeing and acrobois (acrobatics in the woods!) being some of the well-tried favourites. There are 3 swimming lakes in the vicinity which offer supervised safe swimming and watersports, beaches and snack bars, which are also proven hits with our customers, as well as us!, and plenty of private lakes for fishing or twitching! The fabulous market town of Bergerac is only a couple of hours drive away ( the 2nd closest airport), and the coast at Bordeaux is about 2 hours west. If none of the above appeals, though we are only a B and B, we are happy for you to sip a glass of wine, read a book, or take a well earned doze, on our sunny terrace, by the pool. Interspersed, perhaps, with a stroll to the local bar, a walk on one of the many marked trails in the village, taking in the regional wildlife, or just more relaxing! We provide dinner on request, including wine, though our BBQ is at your disposal, should you ask for it! An autumn break, could include the National conker championships, if you believe it!!, which is a fab, though strange, day out in the village, for all those young at heart. We hope you enjoy your stay, in our beautiful house, and join the many people who are returning this year!

Activities (on site and in local area)
Walking, cycling, fishing, velo rail, acrobois, karting, quad biking, horse riding, swimming and rambling. Wildlife-watching, 'twitching', and socialising are also extremely popular activities. Boules and skittles are played in the village weekly. Join the French National conker team in October, and try to win the coveted title for yourself!
